The Client Name Lisburn Cathedral - Lisburn

Date of Work December 2005

The Challenge

A recent December 2005 Project was to provide a Heating Control Panel for Lisburn Cathedral. TGM Consultants contacted System Controls with a design brief to replace the existing panel and controls to operate a large boiler and shunt pump, Variable Temperature Heating Circuit and zoned circuit.

The Solution

After Armstrong Plumbing and Heating won the tender put out by the consultant, System Controls commissioned the system and demonstrated it to the end user to their satisfaction to enable ease and optimum use.

Whilst System Controls use controllers from different manufactures to provide a “Best Fit” Solution, such as Honeywell, Sauter, Siemens, Electro and Sontay. The design in this case was enabled by a two channel Horstman time clock with a Heat dissipation run-on timer used to prevent Hi-temp Cut-out on the boiler. A Sauter compensator was used to provide weather compensation on the Variable Temperature Circuit, and a Siemens room thermostat was used to provide on/off control of the vestry zone heating. The Compensator provided weather modulated control of the main heating valve.

The Results

From the initial design brief to the commissioning System Controls demonstrated its capability at working along side others in ensuring the “Best Fit” solution is implemented. This CCS as well as being the most cost effective solution for this Small Scale Project was able to address all queries from the consultant to final handover. System Controls provided a complete solution.
